Saucy's Operational Plan for 7.15.21 - 1.15.22
Supreme Commander Operational Plan
Term: July 15 – Jan 15
Supreme Commander: Saucy
The following are my areas of focus for Pegasus Command Operations during my term:
Collaboration
Recruiting
Engagement
Collaboration
Through collaboration and idea sharing, we can identify best practices, and grow and learn as a team. While each game has its nuances, identifying strategies that are successful and collaborating with our fellow GCs and XOs, we can use idea sharing to identify ways in which we can improve recruitment, manage member attrition, offer creative and engaging ops, and better serve the Pegasus Command Community as a whole. Collaboration starts with communication as a team. To facilitate good communication, we will hold Command Staff meetings on a regular basis. I will start out the term with 2 GC only meetings in rapid succession to lay the groundwork for the command team. After the initial GC meetings, we will hold monthly command staff meetings in which XOs will be invited as well. These meetings will have clear agendas, and the focus will be on highlighting our monthly successes as a command team. We will discuss the hurdles we have encountered and ideas to overcome these hurdles, as well as areas we need guidance, and opportunities for group feedback. These meetings will facilitate group communication for updates, mentoring, and training.
In addition to group collaboration, the Supreme Commander will work directly with game commanders to develop their game plans to balance the specific needs of their games and membership, with overall guild goals. Tracked and trended metrics will be used to set goals when possible and used to measure performance. These metrics will be directly tied to the game commander evaluations. Game Commander one-on-one meetings will be held monthly to review these evaluations, which will follow the same format as the previously established evaluations. The intent of this is to give a measurable expectation to the game commanders. This goal shall be attainable, trackable, and trended, and will be based on historical data (when available) balanced with guild wide expectations and goals.
Recruiting
Recruiting is the key to the strength of our community and is imperative to replenish our pool of future leaders. Recruiting new members is what keeps our guilds fresh and exciting and leads to higher overall engagement. Recruiting needs to be a major focus for all games, and through recruiting we have our biggest opportunity to increase engagement, identify future community leaders, and enhance our game play. As a part of the individual game plans, game specific recruiting goals will be documented for transparent communication of expectations which affords the game commanders the ability to take ownership of their metrics. Recruiting should, at the very least, offset the purge rate, recognizing that month over month variances are natural. This will be tracked and evaluated based on a trended basis.
Engagement
Engagement is the cornerstone to our community. The best way to cultivate long term membership, citizenship, and leadership, is through strong community bonds built on member participation. Since this is such an important part of our guild, we will be tracking metrics to align to this focus.
Overall membership engagement in ops – members are more likely to be long term members, and become citizens, if they regularly participate in ops. As such, this should be top priority for all game commanders. Outreach to members and offering a variety of ops to cater to all levels of play is key to achieving higher levels of participation. Metrics will be tracked to help maintain strong engagement levels. This will be a part of the game commander’s game plan and reviews.
New recruits – the likelihood that a recruit will become a long-term member or citizen is directly related to their engagement level from day one. Every effort needs to be made to engage a recruit as soon as possible. This can not only be done by game commanders, but also by other command staff and other guild members. We will work this term to identify those members who excel at connecting with and helping new members, and where applicable, create a role for them within the command team to facilitate engagement. New member participation will be another metric that will be tracked as a part of the game plans and as part of the game commander reviews.
Purges – sometimes, despite our best efforts, certain members choose not to participate in guild events and ops. As such, we need to review these instances, and based on game commander discretion, purge those who do not wish to engage in the community. This is a function of running a guild, and it is an important task in replenishing our pools of active members. Purges should be determined independently from recruitment numbers and based on op attendance and activity.
Conclusion
These focus areas for the next term are designed to strengthen our already strong guild, and to build on the areas of focus successfully started by the previous Supreme Commander. These areas are the pillars on which Pegasus Command was built, and directly feed into our mission as a gaming community to continue to make game play fun and unique for all members. We ARE nothing without our members. The plan this term is also designed to support our game commanders with identifying attainable goals that further our Pegasus Command mission, and through collaboration, peer support, identifying potential leadership opportunities, and feedback, aim to help them have all the tools at their disposal to be successful.
Budget
$600 for term will be allocated amongst the games based on minimum guild size. The game commanders will work with the Supreme Commander to address in their game plans how they will use the budget allocated to their games for the term.
