FXIV Free Company Update Letter #1
Hello, FFXIV PegCom Members,
Just a quick update on where we stand right now as a branch in FFXIV from February 28th when we opened up until now.
First of all, we have had a lot of new members coming in and our roster is growing quickly. With people of all level ranges now, we just need to keep in mind it is important to help each other out when possible and for the more veteran players, be prepared to answer questions they might have. There is nothing worse than asking questions in guild chat to have them fall on deaf ears. Luckily we haven't had this problem, but just keep it in mind. We're a social guild, being helpful is part of being social, and it's up to all of us to keep it that way. That is what makes the guild great.
As an addendum to that, it probably doesn't need to be said, but when we log in and out of the game, a simple hello and goodbye in the Free Company chat channel is the right thing to do rather than just popping on and off without a word. People can be busy with questing or story and miss the login notifications. Because of that, it can feel like someone isn't noticed and that can be avoided by just saying hello when you log in and good bye before you log out. It is a ridiculous and obvious thing to point out, I know, but it does happen.
Secondly, we finally got our guild rank up to 15, which opened up our last Company Chest slot (Guild Bank). If anyone has any ideas on what kinds of items we should stock in the guild chest, please let me know in the game, on Discord, or you can just reply below this post with ideas for things that can be helpful for our players.
We now have Free Company housing, you can teleport to this estate in your teleport menu under estate. It has pretty much everything you need in it, a mender, summoning pole, materia melder, etc.
Two more things that I would like to put out there to think about.
1. Our turnout for Operations has been sufficient, but I think it could be better, so please keep an eye on the announcement channel. I try to post on Saturdays what we'll be doing for the next Operation. We have been doing them Tuesday evenings at 9pm EST and they run about an hour. Soon, I will start running a second operation. Tentatively, I have Saturdays in mind for this, but I'll nail down a day for it soon enough.
If you are wondering how points are assigned in regards to our monthly grand prize, here is the relevant post explaining it.

2. The other thing is Discord voice channel usage. We have a few members that don't mind using Discord voice chat, It is not mandatory to do this save for as a requirement for earning points for OP attendance, but if it is possible, I would like to see more of you pop on more often to say hi. It's also a great way to make us more social and get to know each other a bit better. During the day, I am on there almost constantly, so feel free to pop on and say hello or whatever. It doesn't mean you have to be on there all day or every time you're logged in, but I would like to see it utilized more.
Also, feel free to use the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Squadron voice channels if you put together guild groups for dungeons, trials, or raids on your own and want to avoid crosstalk if others happen to be in the main channel. I realize sometimes we need to focus without a great deal of interruption.
Anyhow, overall we're doing pretty dang well right now, we have really good members, and it is up to all of us to make it even better!
See y'all in game, kupos!
