Devious Delight, Status of the Guild 4.15.2020
As required by rule, 6-GC-4, this is the Supreme Commander’s required post on the state of the guild. The following areas are under this Office’s Jurisdiction and will be covered in this post: Overview, assessment of plan, as well as observation of each game with recruiting, concerns and future outlook.
Overview:
The overall health of the guild appears well on the surface, but a deeper dive suggests this is being buoyed by strong performances in a few games. Specifically, Elder Scrolls, League of Legends, and Server Guild (currently 7 days to Die). We’ve begun to track the progress of each game, and created metrics which will serve to help quantify game commander performance.
ESO: This game has been almost completely rebuilt from the ground up, and has a strong player base. With a roster of 86 it is also our largest game. The transfer of leadership responsibilities will be completed in the next 2 weeks.
Recruiting: #1 in recruiting in the first 3 months of the year.
Concerns: March’s attendance of 36% seems light, based up on the number of new members. I anticipate ESO will have large purges over the coming months. It will be upto the new game commander to continue to recruit at a very high level.
Future Outlook: Starting big makes any game have a bright future. It’s up to the new game commander to put a grandiose house on a strong foundation. There are many future leaders in this game.
League of Legends: This game has not only a strong pattern of growth, but additionally has one of the best attendance rates in guild. Most games should wish to achieve the stability LoL has.
Recruiting: #2 in recruiting. Very consistent.
Concerns: Large recruiting classes are not translating into long-term citizens and members. Additionally, the overall age of the membership base is translating into more disciplinary issues, as a college age mentality exists.
Future Outlook: A solid core, plus a large amount of additions each month will continue to serve this game. The strength of the overall leadership is a huge plus. As more members become citizens that participate in the overall growth of the guild, self policing will become stronger in the membership base and serve the guild well.
Guild Server: The newest ‘game’ to Pegasus Command is also one of the most unique. It actually does not play one game, but rather focuses on games that require a server. The current game supported by this guild is ‘7 days to die.’ It is one of the consistent recruiting games in the guild. Overall in good shape, watching the development of this group of people, and the thought leadership behind it will prove to be impactful to the guild.
Recruiting: Since joining the guild, this ‘game’ has only trailed Elder Scrolls and League of Legends in bringing new members. There is no game that takes less time to recruit than 7 days to die.
Concerns: With any new leadership to Pegasus Command, it take a lot of time and energy to create something for our membership. Add into the unknows of this style of game, how it impacts the members will be worth watching. As the current recruiting tactics become less impactful, it will be imperative that new and additional ways of recruiting will be found.
Future Outlook: As a game that many members play in addition to other games will continue to serve the guild well. Add to it the recruiting results, and it is likely the server guild will be a cornerstone to this guild for months, and potentially years to come.
Star Trek Online: As a game that has endured a rotation of leaders, it has endured the phenomenon well. Current leadership is cleaning out the inactive players on the roster. It is expected that attendance rates will rise dramatically over the coming months.
Recruiting: STO has been successfully recruiting after a lack-luster start to the year. It is anticipated this will continue, to create a stronger game as the next Supreme Commander picks it’s leadership staff.
Concerns: While not the fastest growing guild, recruiting is taking hold. This game will be dependent on strong leadership to build and strengthen its player base over the next 3 months.
Future outlook: Stable. This game will likely be a staple game over the next few years due to the legacy player base it has. However, without an increase in recruiting efforts compared to other games, its effect on the leadership of the guild and overall effectiveness may be muted.
Star Conflict: With a new game commander, bringing energy, and increased focus to the growth of the game, an impact to the overall health of the guild is probable.
Recruiting: The new game commander is responsible for more recruits in the month of April, than had been recruited in the last 3 months combined. This is a very positive trend.
Concerns: There is a lot of work to be done. Re-engaging a player base that has mostly floated through ops, and purging those that no longer play. Additionally, a large recruiting effort is needed to fill the gaps that have been created by the results during the previous 9 months.
Future Outlook: Much like STO, Star Conflict has a solid legacy base. It is this base, with a focus on recruiting that will keep this game along side the others as Pegasus Command continues to grow.
StarWars: A game that consistently has a few players playing throughout the day, with a solid legacy presence.
Recruiting: up and down over the course of the year. If the largest months were constant instead of an outlier, this game would have possibility of being one of the more influential games.
Concerns: uneven recruiting, with an unknown or small player base creates multiple challenges going forward.
Future Outlook: This game will be heavily reliant on engaging or re-engaging members, as well as recruiting. It is up to the current leadership of the game to encourage growth and engagement. Without both, it is unlikely this game will have a meaningful presence in the future of this guild.
Neverwinter: A new game commander in January. This game has tried a few different tactics to increase player participation and player growth this year. Neither has gone exceptionally well.
Recruiting: Neverwinter has not had success with recruiting thus far in 2020.
Concerns: Minimal recruiting results, Minimal game engagement
Future Outlook: The outlook is currently bleak for Neverwinter. Without new blood, and legacy players re-engaging into the fabric of the Neverwinter guild, this game will take a herculean (aerulean?) effort to have a meaningful impact in the shaping of Pegasus Command in the future.
World Of Warships: Game Commander is currently 30 days in.
Recruiting: none
Concerns: Death of game
Future Outlook: The current game commander has very little legacy players in which to build the game around. This game will probably need both Hercules and Aer to bring it into prominence with-in Pegasus Command.
Status of Plan:
Create a job description for all current roles with-in the guild, complete with expectations and reasons for dismissal
At a GC level, these have been spelled out, with a formal description to come in the next 60 days.
Create a more stable leadership dynamic with-in PEGCOM, and the games themselves.
More GC turnover than I would have liked or anticipated, however, none of it has been at the discretion of the supreme commander.
Leveraging Google Docs for tracking and accountability
All games except ESO have rosters with attendance records online, and GC scorecards have been created and shared.
Further, I would define my term as SC a success if the following were accomplished
A defined set of rules for each game, posted under a specific link for the game
(EG- Neverwinter’s Guild rules)- COMPLETE
The SC GO index nearly eliminated
Of the 14 SC GOs, I would ask the Quorum to review no less than 4 per month, and add them to the existing rules, or determine them to be not applicable
4 GOs have been removed, plan to have this completed by end of term in progress.
Once all GOs have either been added to the rules, or removed- I would ask the Quorum to consider a new rule directly affecting the SC’s office
Any GO created by the SC will be voted on my the Q at the next Q meeting.
Any PO (Personnel Order) by the SC is in the SC perview only
A PO is defined as pertaining to the leadership of the game, and not general game play.
An exuberant goal. This is not likely to happen during this term.
Job Description of all leadership roles with-in pegcome, including trackable, defined expectations
All GCs appointed during my term are the GCs as of 1/1/2021
Fail
40 New Citizens after the Q meeting in June
Unknown progress.
