Objectives: Work on in system location for pilots, Assignments, and engage PvP using the new system.
Operation Plan: We will group up in the Guardian Station 17 hanger and meet in open space in Assignment systems, once cleared we will work in the location system with PvP and PvE targets.
In testing of the following location system for combat. The goal is to prefect and make this system or a better one usable in open space and in the instanced combat in the game. While we do not expect this to work out the box, we need to start putting meat on the bones of a shared system. Again, without this work I do not feel we will make all our goals in the game.
Location System detail:
Each system will be seen as broken into 8 cubes, 4 above the mid-line of the system and 4 below. The idea is to give a pilot a place to look for another in a system. This will not get you a precise location, but a general direction to look for the calling pilot and find them quickly by cursing over them. The point where all the cubes meet will be zero up or down. This point is the center of the map and sets the horizon.
What we will need to do is in each system is have a fixed and named target that sits in one and only one of the four top cubes. It may be a gate or some other named structure. When we have this then a pilot calling for help, a target ect...would say something like I am in the Scrapyard top cube or I am in the Scrapyard bottom cube. What this does it tells everyone where to look no matter where they may be in the system.
Example of what this looks like:
Recommended Gear: Best you have for PvP and PvE fights.
Communications: When and if combat coms are called for they need to be tight and clear. State distance to called targets, and all pilots should know the location of their squads, while squad leaders should know the location of other squads at all time. Break of formation and return to formation
