STO Helpdesk With Jo4play, Episode 4 Duty Officer...stuff
The biggest micro of this game
Welcome to the pain inducing clicking simulator 2018 (or to better say 2010) In this crazy place all that matters is smart financial management, AWWWW YEAHHHHHH. #notfun
Duty officer system
Duty officers, you know, those people who you keep running out of space for. Their importance is so small or massive, depending on whether you know how to use em and what do they give you. For a normal player if he uses this, i would be honestly surprised. The duty officer system can be usually safely grinded away, till you get some actually useful things
Roaster:
To see all your low boi chaps, all your cannon fodder that gets blasted out of the airlocks, and sometimes some witty quotes. Generally useless menu, unless you wanna sell people, cause that doesn't sound like slavery or anything.
Active Officers:
The bread and butter of the doff system, some say only useful thing apart from diplomacy tree that gives you the diplo immunity/transwarps. Many doffs have abilities you can exploit to your advantage, among most prominent (and expensive) are technicians (which can be farmed [b'tran]), shield distribution officers (cause yeah),energy weapons officers (critd/crith m8), grav scientists (yes please) and some other boiz for ground.
DOFF assignments:
Nowadays this system offers meagar rewards with loads of commitment. The only point to do it is to get the duty officers and some rewards (cough diplomacy cough). I use doff system to grind those RnD materials, i find em very useful in my attempts to grind the different stuff
Admirality system
Now to an actual useful and semi modern system. Admirality is the doff system with spaceships you own. What makes this system better you ask. Well it has actual meaningful rewards like XP, dil, spec points, upgrades, rnd mats. The ships you get are based on ships you have, more you got, more you play with, Lvl 10 in each gives you a free card, also some missions give you them as well as going into Narendra to get the Sally Ride (guess where that is from). Also if lucky get one from the Phoenix Box
With 4 different categories all you have to remember is Federation is XP, Klingons are Dil , Rommies like RnD and Ferengi... you know GPL
R&D system
Revamp of RND was my favourite thing in STO, it simplified the boring complex system. Now how do you use it i hear. Well up untill you have lvl 15 in a school don't bother with anything other than 20 hour xp projects. For those you will need research lab scientists. Bigger RND lvl= better qualities. This system is a big endgame moneymaker if you know what to craft. If you can't find that one doff with a specialization you need well rngsus+ fleet lab.
Conclusion
This was a bit rushed but i think i gave a good overview, if you want to ask more specific questions by all means do it in the comments, also any suggestions for ep 5. As always signing off
